Code of Conduct
Guidelines
The 2024 ROAR Academy staff is looking forward to providing your child with a rigorous, memorable, and safe academy experience. Each student has a responsibility to act in a way that assures a positive experience for all. All students are required to follow these guidelines.
Behavior Guidelines
- Students shall be responsible for their words and actions.
- Students shall be respectful of others.
- Students shall follow directions from staff members.
- Students will have a lunch break from 12:30 – 1:30pm and are expected to be back by 1:35pm. IF a student is late by more than 20 minutes, we will reach out to the parent. IF a student is late by more than 40 minutes (and after a parent call), we will report the missing student to UCPD.
Prohibited Behaviors
- Endangering the health and safety of themselves, other students, and/or staff or volunteers.
- Stealing, damaging, or failing to care for University or personal property.
- Continual disruption of the program.
- Refusal to follow the behavior guidelines.
- Inappropriate physical contact.
- Using profanity or inappropriate language or displaying clothing or other personal items with offensive content.
- Bullying or acts of aggression or violence.
- Possession or use of illegal substances, tobacco, or alcohol.
- Possession of weapons – any object that may cause harm to another, or place another person in fear of his/her safety, may be considered a weapon.
Steps taken for failure to follow these behavior guidelines
- Counselor will redirect the student to a more appropriate behavior.
- The student will be reminded of the behavior guidelines.
- If the behavior persists, staff will discuss the problem with a parent/guardian.
- Steps will be taken to remedy the situation
- If behavior persists after second warning, student will be released from the academy
- Steps will be taken to remedy the situation
- The staff will document the situation. The written documents will include what the behavior problem is, what provoked the problem, and the corrective action taken.
- If the problem persists to the point where a second phone call becomes necessary, the Director may find it necessary to have the camper picked up early from camp.
- If a student’s behavior at any time threatens the immediate safety of him/her, other students, or staff, the parent/guardian will be notified and the student will be released from the academy immediately.
