Fees and Financial Aid

Fees

Applications are reviewed as they are received, so you are encouraged to submit your completed application as soon as possible. Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Application Cost: $50 application fee (non-refundable)
Tuition: $800

The total cost of ROAR Academy is $800.

Please note that the above tuition and fees below are for California residents only. For prospective students from other regions, please contact us at fhlvivecenter@berkeley.edu, as space is only available on a limited basis.

For families who demonstrate financial need, the ROAR Academy awards full scholarships. Financial aid availability is dependent on fundraising efforts by ROAR Academy each year. Financial aid is only available to financially eligible California students, out-of-state students are not eligible for financial assistance.  Not all applicants will receive financial aid, but every effort is made to provide eligible students assistance. See below for eligibility.

Financial Need Eligibility

  • Families who demonstrate financial need: FREE
  • Families who do not demonstrate financial need: $800

Financial need is demonstrated by qualifying for one of the following programs:

  • Free or reduced price lunch at school
  • CalFresh
  • Medi-Cal

If your family demonstrates financial need, you do not need to submit an additional scholarship application. Instead, please indicate how you qualify for financial need in the Academy application. Note that ROAR Academy reserves the right to request financial need documentation during the application review process, if needed.

Requesting a financial aid review: If your family cannot afford camp, but does not qualify for one of the programs listed above, you may e‑mail fhlvivecenter@berkeley.edu to request that we review your specific situation. You can contact us at any time—the student does not need to submit an application first.  Do not submit financial statements (tax returns, etc.) unless requested to do so. Sensitive information should never be e-mailed to us, due to UC Berkeley’s data security policy.
